Like every other cool kid on the block I’ve been trying my hand at datamoshing. The steps are many, and involve using shitty software, which I always feel a little skeptical about. Some dudes on the interwebs are trying to suss out a way to do this kind of thing in real time… which would be nice. I’ll be surprised if it works out, though.

What follows are two really simple experiments I did, hoping to figure out a way to use datamoshing to make nice, subtle video instead of a glitchy mess. I would describe them as being “almost partially successful”.

0:20 of test for Section 6 of La Sonnambula. I’m not 100% on this one yet: the timing still needs some help. I think the idea is that each dancer has an instrument associated with her, and as they trade places in the fore- and background, the mix will reflect those changes.

Not exactly the newest idea in the book, but fun for me to work with nonetheless.
